In the joi mode though, once you input the gift code in standard mode, the game just freezes and it doesn't advance further despite it saying code is correct. Not even the only button on the screen works. Playing on PC.

By starting menu you mean `Main menu` or `Start Story mode` and `Activate secret code`. If the latter, then it should be so.Black screen for 3-6 seconds.
I'm playing on android. I'm not sure why, but as soon as i get to the first part of the story where you are prompted to click the dialog button, the game crashes. I have tried every graphics quality option, and the same thing happens every time. I have 34 Gb of free internal storage, and 180 Gb of free SD card storage, I moved the game to the SD card at one point to see if it helped, but it didn't, so I moved it back to internal.
my phone has about 2.4 Gigs of free ram, and has a base of 6. I can also designate 6 Gigs using ram plus... How much ram is needed for the program to run smoothly? I'm using an S20 Fe 5G, Android Ver 13, One UI 5.1 Also, the game ran relatively smooth before the last update, got relatively far before it would crash. And the animations and UI seem to work fine other than when I click the dialog bubble.

Been working to get the Linux version running, atm it is throwing "Loading in SingleInstance mode" and then just never launching. I've noticed that it does actually generate a unity.lock file as well, though.

Hmm, free code works for me, it unlocks 3D extra stories and fast mode in JOI

On android. The starting menu works fine, but the second the game starts everything's black.

It's when i boot up the game. After the bar loads and the hourglass shows up in the bottom right, it just goes black while the music plays.

Maybe that's an engine problem. I'll update it. Wait for the next update of Chubby Story.
